"If you don't know something better,
you'll be satisfied with good."

A healthy, vital own tooth is still better than an artificial tooth root, an implant. That is why we always try to save our own teeth. However, if a tooth is missing or has to be removed, an implant is a prognostically very good and predictable form of therapy. In our practice we can predictably treat almost any jaw situation with implants using appropriate methods. A no-go is rare and depends on the skill and know-how of the practitioner.
We favour one-piece ceramic implants. They are scientifically fully established and have various advantages over titanium implants:
- Ceramic implants are metal-free
- Ceramic is a biological material
- The gingiva (the gum) at the exit point of the ceramic implant grows together with the ceramic and thus forms an immunological lock. Unlike titanium implants, we do not have the problem of corrosion and associated peri-implant inflammation with ceramic implants.
- Only one operation! We remove the tooth including the focus of inflammation and replace the natural tooth root arthroscopically with a ceramic root, which is immediately restored with a crown in the visible area. You come and leave our practice fit for society after the operation!
Specialisation is necessary
But how can the patient find the real specialist. In Germany there are now a multitude of well-sounding titles that can create more confusion than clarity. "Master of science", "specialist in implantology" , "implantologist" mean that the bearer of the title has attended evening and weekend events to prove a qualification. However, there is no sound, practical, purely oral surgical training behind it. Nor are they protected titles. Anyone may call themselves an expert.
Specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery and specialists in oral surgery have enjoyed several years of full-time purely surgical training at the clinic and thus acquire the protected additional specialist title such as specialist dentist in oral surgery.
The topic of implants is extremely complex and multi-layered and would go beyond the scope of this article.
Therefore, I have published an understandable and comprehensive implant guide in analogue book form for those interested. This can be purchased in our practice for a nominal fee. It informs you about the possibilities of implant treatment up to the long-term preservation of an implant.
Talk to us!
We know about patients' fears and reservations about implants. We take this seriously. There are no unwise questions. If you are interested in an implant, ask for a non-binding examination appointment in our practice.
The implant surgery is first digitally planned and simulated. Then, in very severe and complex cases, a 3-dimensional drilling template for navigated implant surgery can be made in advance.
A tooth puts physiological functional stress on the jawbone. When a tooth is lost, a so-called inactive atrophy of the jaw bone occurs at this location. The bone is reduced to a minimum. If a tooth has to be removed, we use modern procedures so that subsequent extensive bone reconstruction can be avoided.
If there is already a larger bone defect, we are able to rebuild it with certain methods in order to place implants in the necessary position for the subsequent restoration.
The all-ceramic restorations are fabricated onto the implants within one session. You can eat and chew and shine immediately!
